Martial Arts Styles: Chin-Na

Chin-Na is a Grappling Martial Art from China that uses techniques to control or lock an opponent’s joints, muscles and tendons making him unable to move and eliminating his ability to fight.

Chin means to seize or trap, Na means to lock or break. Chin-Na is believed to have played a role in the development of Japanese Ju-Jitsu.

In the early to middle 1600s a man named Chin Gempin came to Japan and introduced some of its techniques to three Ronin. After this the Ronin continued researching this Martial Art and when they achieved a level of skill they founded the Kito-Ryu school of Ju-Jitsu.
